ROAD RAGE HELP

ROAD RAGE HELP

A new kind of road hazard is Aggressive Driving that can become Road Rage.

When driving watch for:

  • aggressive drivers who weave in and out of traffic
  • drivers who tailgate (follow too closely)
  • drive too fast on crowded highways
  • honk the horn frequently
  • drive with no regard for other drivers and their vechicles
  • drivers who cut you off
  • drivers who brake very fast – you might read end them
  • drivers who “squeeze’ in front of 18 wheel trucks
  • scream at you
  • obscene gestures
  • drivers who try to get you to talk to them while driving
  • drivers who change lanes when you do and seem to be chasing you
  • drivers who get in front of you and slam their brakes on

Today’s hectic, over crowded, fast-paced world, frustration levels are sky high, stress piles on with increasing number of people expressing this as angry driving.

Avoid Road Rage consequences with these tips:

  • aggressive and excessive speeding, particularly on congested highways
  • aggressive and excessive speeding in bad weather
  • speed causes nearly 1/3 of all fatal motor vehicle crashes
  • speeding reduces the time drivers have to avoid a crash or a dangerous situation and greatly increases the likelihood the crash will be severe.
  • The energy released in a collision at 60 mph is 200 percent greater than at 40 mph, even though the speed has increased by only 50 percent.

Control Yourself

  • Wind down before you crank it up
  • Avoid making other drivers angry by avoiding anger yourself
  • Anticipate situations and make plans accordingly.
  • Regular traffic reports in most cities alert you to the traffic congestion.
  • Allow extra driving time to remain stress free.
  • Learn alternate routes.
  • Find ways to relive daily stress such as Working Out (Exercise), Pilates, Meditation, Laughter Yoga, Conscious Breathing, Singing, taking Hot Baths at night.
  • If you plan a long road trip, take it in 8 to 10 hour stages.
  • Every three hours driving take a rest stop break.

Be Patient & Pay Attention – Avoid A Driving Assault

  1. Don’t yell or use obscene gestures.
  2. Don’t block the passing lane.
  3. Stay to the right if you are obstructing the flow of traffic.
  4. Always signal when changing lanes.
  5. Use your horn sparingly.
  6. Don’t tailgate.
  7. Cooperate
  8. Don’t compete on the road.
  9. Let other drivers merge into traffic in an orderly fashion.
  10. Don’t take another’s actions personally. Everybody makes mistakes.
  11. Don’t react to another driver’s uncivil behavior
  12. Avoid eye contact
  13. Don’t accelerate, brake or swerve suddenly, which can be seen as confrontational.
  14. If confronted by an aggressive driver, go to the nearest police station if you continue to be hassled or think you are being followed.
  15. Lock your doors.
  16. When stopped in traffic, leave enough space to pull out from behind the car you are following.
  17. Don’t be tempted to start a fight or carry any sort of weapon. These acts may provoke an assault.

GEORGIA FREES JAIL SPACE WITH ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES

GEORGIA FREES JAIL SPACE WITH ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES

Georgia Judges are ruling in favor of criminal defendants who enroll in anger  management classes prior to arraignment in simple battery, battery, simple assault, assault, disorderly conduct, affray, terroristic threats cases of non-political/security nature,  child custody cases, divorce, and some family violence cases.

This strategy is designed to convince the courts to show leniency in favor or defendants who are able to demonstrate that they acknowledge the need of anger management and are moving proactively to seek improvement.

Current overcrowding in jails are also a factor in avoiding jail sentences in favor of rehabilitation through Pre-Trial Diversion Programs use of anger management classes and criminal defense attorneys and family attorneys suggesting proactive attendance in anger management classes before appearing in court before the judge.

Each Georgia County has different requirements for number of hours or weeks of required anger management classes usually ranging from 8-12 hours/weeks in Georgia.

At Atlanta Anger Management we have seen courts require from 1 hour up to 32 hours of Anger Management Classes. In my humble opinion the minimum should be 4 hours of anger management for a case of injustice where the court/prosecuting attorney knows the defendant should not have been arrested. This would allow enough time for the participant to learn some emotional intelligence skills in anger management, communication, and stress management that aids in better choices in decision making at home, work and public life. Often requiring an Anger Assessment Evaluation might be called for in cases like these. These are used to determine if any anger management classes are needed.

In Georgia, most clients take 8-12 hours of classes in anger management to fulfill court requirements. A few we have worked with have been ordered longer time frames.

There still seems to be a few Georgia Courts that do not understand what anger management is as compared to regular psychotherapy counseling for anger.

Anger Management uses psycho-education in classes using an approved/certified program with workbook teaching concepts, principles, and coping strategies to alter the participants beliefs and subsequent behaviors with better choices for better outcomes. This reduces recidivism and increases public safety if the participant uses what is learned. More…

Traditional Counseling often does not teach coping strategies using education based learning to address anger/violence issues and therefore is not effective helping such individuals. According to the American Psychiatric Association, anger is a normal human emotion. It is not a mental disorder, consequently it is not responsive to traditional counseling, psychotherapy or psychotropic medication. Additionally anger is not listed in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) DSM-IV-TR.

AA type talk anger management groups often do not teach these type skills either so are not effective in reducing recidivism. Anger Management in the movies/TV is for entertainment not actually how anger management actually works.

Atlanta Anger Management is Atlanta’s #1 Oldest Certified Anderson and Anderson Provider offering a internationally/nationally recognized Anderson and Anderson™ Anger Management Curriculum with workbooks .

Atlanta Anger Management offer Anger Management Classes:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday
  • Saturday to meet every court need.

Anger/Violence Assessment Evaluations are ordered for individuals the court determines may or may not need anger management classes. There are many Evaluations in use in Atlanta with the standard determined by the Certification Provider in most cases.

An accurate Assessment Evaluation can determine:

  • the proficiencies of the individual in the areas taught in anger management
  • family history of anger/violence
  • information regarding the actual incident that caused the arrest
  • communication style of participant
  • participant’s attitude in choices
  • empathy quotient
  • amount of stress
  • often impulse control

Testimonials

I really liked the fact that Richard is very active and knows his material. He has good strategies and techniques to display the information. I honestly feel the program is a success in the way the classes are run. He connects the dots and is consistent. – Tyler

I have attended three anger management classes and yours was the best!
I actually learned something. I hope to not do this again! – Matevius

I found you after attending a closer anger management class nearby. They lied to me about co pays, then made me take an assessment and tried to say I needed 15 hours of classes. What a scam. I am impressed you have ethics and say what it is. I am happy to drive farther to get a legitimate Anger Management class the courts will accept and be treated fairly and with respect. – Bobby

Thank you! It went well! My Probation officer got your email.
He received the Anger Certificate Of Completion from me. You did a great job.
I hope not to do business with you again, at least not for this!!!
Best wishes and thank you! – Alex

You are the best teacher ever. I mean it.
You took the time to give real life examples so I was easily able to understand the principle that made it easy for me to remember. And you always finished “Any questions?”
I liked that. Thanks.

I am writing a brief testimonial about Atlanta Anger Management’s anger management class. I attended the Saturday class, and it was a very beneficial class for me. I have always struggled with anger, but I was always able to control it. I finally let my anger get the best of me, and I got in trouble at work. I was very lucky that I did not get fired. After attending Sat. class, I was able to identify several tools to help me with my anger.

First, I was able to identify my triggers of my anger. I was also taught several tools to help control my anger. I have turned to regular exercise, taking controlled deep breaths, and excusing myself from a bad situation.

Everyone will deal with anger issues in different ways. I learned what would work best for me. I highly recommend his Saturday course. He has helped me to control my anger on a daily basis. His class will give you new insights to yourself and your anger issues.

It was great to be able to receive all the anger management information in one day due to my busy schedule, savings on gas and time. I find I do better with consolidated information learning situations rather than spread over eight weeks. Easier to retain/remember the information!

Sincerely, Steve

Richard was very friendly, down to earth and personable.

Even though I resented attending the classes because I was the victim, you made the class material interesting and I actually learned something. I now know to control myself better. My relationships are improving and I catch my negative thought now and don’t hold on for days. My mood is better most of the time. Thanks for helping me.

I liked the class.

You know your stuff. I enjoyed it. Bye.

What I like about the anger management class is that provided me with many tools to pick from that I need to change myself and things I can do to make my relationship better.

Very useful. Everything was good.

Gave us more resources for continued study.

Nothing sucked. I was surprised I enjoyed the class.

I like watching the DVD videos as I learn better from seeing/hearing.
having the workbook to follow along also was a real plus. Good job.

Coming to a corporate building with a security guard made me feel safe. You have a top notch company. I liked having access to free on demand coffee and water when I came to class. Also meeting at a conference table made it feel not so ANGER MANAGEMENT! Thanks for offering a course that exposed me to a new world of emotion control.

I did not think I had any problems with anger. But going through the class material I realized that this is all good stuff and opened my eyes to how people actually work. I now know how to respond to angry people around me. I don’t get sucked in so easy. I am still trying to master to be calm in the storm. So as you said…”anger management is keeping open to awareness.” I liked that. Thanks for your class. I liked it in the end.

I agreed with your statement “You can only change yourself, not your partner.” Made me own my part in our relationship problems. The class gave me the information to do something about me, and therefore improve my relationship and my life. Thanks.

I attended a few classes somewhere else but was fed up with their controlling nature, changing ‘the rules’ and basically jerked me around. Thanks for offering a great program that I need to get off probation. It has been a nighmare! I thank your straight forwardness, not beating around the bush. Sometimes it might seem harsh but you made me realize I do have control of myself and my own choices. This class was worth it. Time and money. I liked your honesty and integrity too.

I thought the class was great. I liked the pacing between workbook and videos. Nice TV!

I promised I would email feedback on the classes. It was a pain to attend 8 weeks of classes but doing so made the material stick. While I don’t think I have anger issues, the information and class has made me more aware of how things are working in my life and I have found I am making better choices. So I guess it worked! I don’t respond aggressively to everyone else’s issues anymore, and friend’s have asked me how I manage to remain so calm now. That was a big change for me. Thanks.

TESTIMONIALS (Anonymous From End Of Class Survey)

Richard is very funny and accommodates both young and older audiences. He understands and communicates very well. Today I learned I had an anger problem and Richard provided me with solutions. Thanks.

I found the class a very positive experience and provided insights to how anger works, that it can be used positively for good rather than be destructive aggressive anger. I learned about being intelligent with my emotions that I can choose better responses for better outcomes. I liked the instructor, Richard as he knew the material and was non judgmental towards everyone in the class. I was not forced to talk, but found myself participating as the material was engaging.

The class was very real and went straight to the point rather than beat around the bush. Real life stories of how people messed up making it easier for me to remember what Not To Do!

Today’s anger management class was one of the most positive things I have attended and participated in ever. Richard was very funny and open to us all attending and let us fully express ourselves as things came up. The teaching points just kept expanding layer upon layer and help me realize that EVERYONE should take this class. It was so uplifting and energizing.
I know that I will make better choices and never return. No more court ordered anger management for me!

I attended a class somewhere else and it produced very negative feelings in me. I felt accused, made to feel I was a bad person and had to admit I was the perpetrator. The fact was I was falsely accused and did nothing wrong. I am so glad I found Atlanta Anger Management. Richard was very positive and uplifting in his teaching methods. It was Anger Management, but the Anderson and Anderson curriculum was much much more. Skill enhancing information in so many areas, that I found myself enjoying the class and owning it and saying yes to the information as it was presented. I had a very good day. Glad it is over and worth the money. And now new skills to move forward. I will never be back. Richard stories reinforced that. Avoid precarious situations to avoid getting arrested.

This class was not what I expected. Started with some good coffee and immediately jumped into the material. As the day unfolded I could see that the material was really relevant to my life and I could use it in a practical way. I thought it was going to be a waste of time…but rather I felt energized by the material and Richard. I actually enjoyed myself. It was very valuable to me to attend a Saturday Class since my schedule is very busy with work and family demands. I thought it was easier to remember everything doing it in a one day class. Thanks.

I work outside and have a hard time sitting for long periods. It was great as the morning break came fast, then lunch, then afternoon break. So I did not have to sit any longer than 2 hours before I could check by phone for text message or voicemail. And got to stretch. The class material was easy to understand and with the DVDs made the day go by fast. I am glad to get this behind me.

Excellent information. Real Theory that you can really practice.

The instructor really knew his stuff. The day flew by and I was glad to get this behind me!

TESTIMONIALS

All the information was really helpful and useful. Richard did a great job of explaining and breaking the lessons down. The one day class was perfect for my situation due to time restraints.

I was surprised and actually like the class. I will not be coming back again!

A very helpful class. Learned things I can definitely use day to day.

It was a very laid back environment that made me feel accepted and more able to listen.
I enjoyed going over the material as Richard presented it. He made sure I understood the material.

The material was very defined and thorough. I particularly liked the self evaluating assessments that we did that help me realize my reactions to many events in my life.
As Richard said, this will give me a better handle on how to respond for better outcomes.

I like the Communication DVD and learning about spotting the different communication styles we all use. Should help me respond in a better way.

I like the One Day Class due to my working schedule. It was easier to understand the class lessons as everything flowed into the next chapter of info.

I learned how to better recognize and manage my frustration before it results in my usual anger.

Nice surprise. I thought I wouldn’t learn anything, and just do it for my probation. I actually did learn good anger control coping skills and learned I need to manage my stress better. The DVD’s were pretty good and help break up the class info. I am taking home a new attitude as a result of the class. I got my money worth.

Word of the day for me: Assertiveness

What I liked was how organized everything was. From my first email inquiry and fast response, to the subsequent follow up emails answering all my questions, the Details offered that told me everything I needed to know. Then the first part of the day, the following in the workbook, DVD’s, breaks, lunch, the facility….all surpassed my expectations. I am glad I chose Richard and his Atlanta Anger Management. It was worth the money even though I was falsely accused and got screwed by the system.

Learned that if I change my awareness of my anger response that it can be used for good rather than be destructive.

For me, this was a Divine appointment. I don’t have anger issues. But due to the police policy that someone has to get arrested it was me. I was not happy I was forced to attend this class. But after a few research Google searches I decided to attend to this class because of what I read about this class. I had to travel from over 60 miles to attend. I found it was definitely worth it. I was immediately affirmed upon arriving and opened up to Richard and his teaching style. He made me laugh and see that it is just as important to learn how anger and rage works to give me tools to respond better to other people’s anger. That was the insight. I work in a rather hostile combative work environment at a large company. Dog eat dog so to speak. This class gave me new insights and skills to deal better with the people I work with and leave my frustration at work and not dump on my husband when I get home. I am sure my husband will appreciate the new me. This is exactly what I needed.

I like being in a class with class participation. Made it interesting and I felt comfortable adding my input to class material. Richard even let me explain my knowledge of Meditation that was cool for me. 😉

I am sick of being known as a hothead. The class will help me respond in a better way and let me become less reactive and explosive. I look forward to being the calm one.

I am writing a brief testimony about Richard Taylor’s anger management class. I attended his Saturday class, and it was a very beneficial class for me. I have always struggled with anger, but I was always able to control it. I finally let my anger get the best of me, and I got in trouble at work. I was very luck that I did not get fired. After attending Richard’s class, I was able to identify several tools to help me with my anger.

The class was not what I expected. I actually enjoyed it and learned something.

I liked that you told anger management stories from actual people you have seen as to what to NOT DO. Also that you had some DVD’s to watch that broke the day up.

Thanks. Hope to never see you again!

As Richard described depression and anxiety I realized I had the signs of depression. It was an
ah ha moment for me and explained why occasionally I got angry. The anger helped me get enough energy to do something and speak out. I now realized I was stuck in inaction mode. He called it Freeze. Like Fight, Flight, Freeze primal instincts. Made sense. Wow. I now have some coping skills to help myself get motivated and getting moving. I see some hope. I talked to Richard over lunch about my situation and he was open and made some suggestions that got me excited. Thanks Richard.

I enjoyed the class. That surprised me. Thanks.

Very interesting class. I learned a lot, not just about anger and managing those issues, but also behavior skills in stress management, that emotional intelligence can be learned to improve yourself and better communication skills while learning to fight fair.

Excellent information. Real Theory that you can really practice.

E-mailed to us:

Thanks Richard for allowing me the opportunity. i really enjoyed the class, and i think i enjoyed it more than the others lol that’s between you and i. and i will keep practicing the assertion skill!!! again thanks allot, and many more blessing to you guys and the wonderful corp. of A.A.M. ps. i honestly felt like family during the whole time i was there. thanks for being my mentor!!!! -Joshua

Richard knew the material and made the time go by fast.

I liked that you told anger management stories from actual people you have seen as to what to NOT DO. Also that you had some DVD’s to watch that broke the day up.

The Best Of The Best In Anger Management & Emotional Intelligence

ANGER MANAGEMENT – WHAT IS IT

Anger Management  – What Is It?

ATLANTA ANGER MANAGEMENT

Anger Management is a course of treatment that seeks to help people whose anger emotion is causing negative problems in their personal, business or public life.

Anderson & Anderson’s Certified Anger Management Facilitators are influencing how anger management is practiced throughout the United States. Anger Management has moved from the basic idea of management of anger to a broader understanding of the relationship between anger, stress, communication, self-awareness, social awareness, impulse control, optimism, decision making, self-perception, flexibility and relationship management. This provides the client with self understanding (awareness), learning to control one’s emotions, social awareness for better interactions and more productive relationship management. 1

In most cases reduced recidivism is also achieved.

Professionally Certified Anger Management Facilitators (CAMF) take an active interest is specializing in understanding anger and all of it’s ramifications. Anger Management is not psychotherapy. Anger Management is psycho-education and a highly personalized form of treatment.

Anger Management does not seek to help those in need of counseling to find ways of avoiding their anger altogether. 3

Anger is exemplified by anger outbursts or tempers that flair out of proportion to the causing stimuli or situation. Anger can be aggressive as in verbal or physical abuse but also passive as in emotional blackmail, negative control issues, silent treatment etc. The individual experiencing anger often lashes out against family members, friends, acquaintances coworkers, even strangers.

Anger is a problem under the following circumstances: 2

• When it occurs too frequently
• When it is too intense
• When it lasts too long
• When it leads to health issues
• When it destroys interpersonal relationships: personal, work and public
• When it results in person-directed aggression: verbal or physical abuse

Anger can be managed using skills/tools that can be learned through a course of proven Anger Management curriculum.

Emotional Intelligence has become one of the hottest buzz words in the business world. When Harvard Business Review published an article on the topic a few years ago, it attracted a higher percentage of readers than any other article published in that periodical in the last 40 years.

Emotional intelligence is the capacity to appropriately respond to emotional stimuli in a way which leads to positive outcomes in yourself and others. (EQ) is a learned ability to identity, experience, understand, and express human emotions in healthyand productive ways.

It is a relatively new concept which was popularized in 1995 by Dr. Daniel Goleman in two books; “Emotional Intelligence” and “Emotional Intelligence At Work”.

My own interest in emotional intelligence began about 7 years ago. At that time, I was conducting research for a curriculum for anger management classes. Previous anger management models tended to focus on what happens to the body and mind

when a person is under stress or anger. Emotional intelligence provided an intervention with a different set of skills which includes managing anger, stress, improving communication and emotional intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence is a key component in the Anderson & Anderson™ Model of Anger Management Intervention.

In contrast to IQ, which is the ability to manipulate objects and master precision learning, emotional intelligence can be changed, improved at any stage of life. In contrast, IQ remains stable over time and does not predict success in life or relationships.

Research by Goleman and others have shown that success in life and work is not determined by IQ but rather by emotional intelligence (EQ). The brightest students do not necessarily become the most successful. The emotionally intelligent person is the one who is aware of his own feelings, moods, assets and limitations and is sensitive, empathic and compassionate to others. He or she has the capacity to actively listen to others, give feedback and positively influence others that lead to win – win situations.

By improving your emotional intelligence you will be better able to positively influence both your overall performance and well-being, and get incredible results from your work and life. A growing body of research suggests that emotional intelligence is a better predictor of success that the more traditional measures. In fact, EQ may be the single most important factor in predicting success.

There is now a considerable body of research suggesting that a person’s ability to perceive, identify, and manage their emotions provides the basis for the kinds of social and emotional competencies that are important for success in almost any job.

This research indicated that only 20% of your success is contributed by your IQ. With 36% attributable to your emotional intelligence. At least 90% of the difference between outstanding and average leaders is related to emotional intelligence and explains why some people excel while others of the same caliber lag behind. It has been clearly established that emotional intelligence is linked to important work-related outcomes such as individual performance and organizational productivity.

Emotional Intelligence matters most in times of change. It is a measure of your ability to recognize and manage your own feelings and those of other people (staff, colleagues and customers) to produce results and traditional management skills. It is equally important when selecting the next generation of leaders.

The skills taught in an emotional intelligence coaching or classes
may include some or all of the following:

  • interpersonal awareness
  • self control
  • anger management
  • interpersonal assertion
  • listening skills
  • empathy, compassion
  • improving communication style for better outcomes
  • self-esteem
  • stress management
  • commitment
  • motivation
  • social awareness
  • flexibility
  • relationship management
  • problem solving – decision making
  • time management
  • leadership

How do issues like substance abuse, anger management and violence relate?

They are the result of unresolved conflicts relating to personal growth and a lack of knowledge about the process of making positive personal changes. Self-defeating and destructive living patterns are the result of learned behavior, any behavior which is learned can be unlearned.

When you work with other people, your relationship with them can really matter.

Using emotional intelligence is all about getting the most out of these relationships in ways that benefit everyone. Whenever you need to work with other people to deliver business outcomes, having the skills to work effectively with them will help you create a better solution and stronger relationships.

When you learn to recognize other’s emotions, you immediately begin to have greater empathy with them and to better connect with them. This gives you an advantage when working in a team.

Sometimes we respond to situations and people in ways that we may regret. It’s harder to rebuild bridges than it is to establish them. Using emotional intelligence allows you to develop strategies to respond to others comments, incidents and events that would normally push your emotional buttons.

It’s never easy to deal with conflict, but when you are aware of what drives conflict, you will be able to not just cope with the situation, but be able to diffuse the emotions that always accompanies conflict. When you know your own skills and abilities, you can focus on developing in areas that will benefit you most.

Here are some of the skills that can be developed through Emotional Intelligence:

George Anderson Of Anderson and Anderson – Anger Management Guru

Quite Frankly George Anderson Is THE Anger Management Guru

Some would describe anger management as a method to control one’s emotions.

Others, like me, would think of Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler in the motion picture film Anger Management. A few years ago there was no right answer. Anger Management was just a term thrown around, and clearly, no one knew what it was. That was until George Anderson and his team of associates not only defined the term, but set the standard. Since then, Mr. Anderson and his team have never looked back.

George Anderson and his ideals have been featured in the New York Times, the Baltimore Sun News, the Toronto Sun News, ESPN, the Los Angeles Times Magazine, NBC’s Starting Over, the Chicago Tribune, Entertainment Weekly, the London Sunday Times, BBC, and many more.

Along with his lifetime of accolades, Mr. Anderson shed his knowledge on Hollywood when he served as a technical consultant on the well-known green lit film, Anger Management. By now I’m sure you are starting to see the big picture.

Some of L.A.’s most elite make the drive down Wilshire Boulevard to work with George, proving that the Anderson & Anderson business model is one of L.A.’s most untapped resources.

Affiliates of Anderson & Anderson are popping up all over the internet like chicken pox. Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself. Currently there are over 75 web sites affiliated with the Anderson & Anderson business model and their merchandise.

Quietly, Mr. Anderson has become the godfather in a relatively uncharted industry. He has certified trainers mentored personally by himself all over the world, in countries like Argentina and London. Over time the business mogul of 12301 Wilshire Boulevard has set the bar as the most prominent anger management provider of the world, quite frankly in an industry that Mr. Anderson defined himself. So maybe next time when you think anger management, you will think Anderson & Anderson.

In most cases reduced recidivism is also achieved.
